Basic Geography

The world of Yume is much larger than planet earth, with distinct seasons and northern/southern poles. Five main continents make up much of its landmass, with smaller islands circling about these in various degrees of size.

Damasu
Largest of all the continents, Damasu has a rugged coast line, with hard cliffs forming a barrier against the rough and cold northern seas. A high spine of mountains separate them the interior of the continent, which is full of deep forests and plunging waterfalls. Here it is said the trees stretch to touch the sky even as their roots bind deep with the heart of the earth. The Mirror Of the Gods, the largest and clearest lake on Yume, is rumoured to be found amongst the chain of lakes and large rivers on Damasu. The more southern areas of Damasu fade out into a more temperature grassland, which stands as a natural barrier between the harder northern climes and the lush valleys of the lowlands. To the south and east the country gentles into hills and grassy vales, with well established cities at the apex of the many broad rivers snaking down towards the sea. Can be likened to Britain/Holland.
Spoiler:

Kokoro
One of the oldest continents, Kokoro is also one of the most secluded. High, forbidding cliffs and treacherous reefs keep the outside world at bay, with only small inlets opening up onto sandy beaches providing entrance on its northern side. On the more western side shallow and murky marshes spread out into extensive reef systems, the treacherous waterways providing a formidable barrier against any would be invaders. Protected from the cold north wind by a ragged mountain range, the crystal forest at the heart of Kokoro is the stuff of myth and legend. Known as the ‘valley of spirits’, it is so named for the soft glow that suffuses the living crystal of the forest, and the tiny sprites that make it their home. Unpredictable and temptuous weather fronts bar access to Kokoro, with only rare clear fronts allowing access to the secrets it holds. Can be likened to Dinotopia XD
Spoiler:

Chigau
A long, ragged stretch of land, Chigau is a harsh and forbidding climate. Mostly dry and arid, it sits close to the equatorial line with a giant desert at it’s heart. Shifting dunes and raging sand storms can change the landscape almost over night, hiding the lush oasis and secret caverns that dot it’s landscape. To the north Chigau slowly climbs up into high, cold plateaus of short, tough grass and wiry trees and shrubs, before escalating into some of the highest snow-capped mountains on Yume. The south mellows out into a more temperate savannah zone, which extends almost to the end of the continent, broken only by belts of thick scrub forest and dry jungle. Can be likened to Africa.
Spoiler:

Abunai
More of a round shape, Abunai is a land covered in thick, steamy jungle. Home to some of the most exotic flora and fauna on Yume, it is also a dangerous place, full of quicksand and secret caverns. Long rivers snake through Abunai, from mountains lining its north eastern slope. A tropical playground on its eastern edges, Abunai also has the largest collection of islands, with many seeming to beard its southern edge. It is said that this so called paradise holds many dark secrets, and the bones of those lost within its depths can certainly attest to that. Can be likened to South America/Amazon.
Spoiler:

Yabai
Last of the five continents is Yabai, a cold and forbidding stretch of land that stretches close to the frigid southern poles. Made up of high, sharp mountain escarpments and chilly pine mountains, Yabai is a land of cold extremes, with the southern edges often becoming snowed under for many months. High, thick pine forests cover much of the land, before softening out into more scrubby oak forest in the slightly warmer areas. Thickly forested, there is little open land on Yabai and what few cities there are have been hacked from the bones of the mountains themselves. Rich mineral deposits run beneath the crust of this continent, and some of the most beautiful and terrifying jewel/crystal caverns that have been discovered. Can be likened to Canada.
